Ben Hamburger is a painter, socially engaged artist, and educator driven by art’s potential to unite and provoke critical thought. Hamburger holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from Eckerd College and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Community Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art. Hamburger has been the recipient of numerous grants, fellowships, and awards. His work has been widely exhibited and is part of the permanent collection of the City of New Orleans, Tulane Medical School and private collections around the world. Hamburger facilitates innovative workshops and has taught in schools, federal correctional facilities, universities, museums, and nonprofit organizations around the United States, as well as Bolivia, Thailand, and India. Hamburger is currently based in Asheville, North Carolina and teaches in the School of Art and Design and Western Carolina University.
